Glimpses of Fall

My favorite time of year to ride is coming up....Fall. Love it when the leaves change and line the singletrack.

The air is crisp in the morning now

The dogs are tired.

Photo from last fall. Clear Skies and ripping singletrack

Can't wait

Reprieve

Recently there was an unexpected change in the weather. Thursday it was 110 and Saturday was 59 and raining. The rain kept the dust down but not enough for hero dirt. It was a pain cave kind of ride with two attempts at zip tie art....the first one found broke....the second successful.

Dreams of BC

Today the legs were overly haggard. The full moon sure has my cerebrum all up in arms. One thing stood out....a dream of oh so sweet BC Singletrack. I was checking out the latest vid of Dre on the Slayer and it must have stuck hard in my brain last night. Wish I lived in BC (some of the family does). Current Dream: Finish ID school, intern at bike company in BC, get job offer in BC. After all aren't dreams a form of planning?

Semi conscious at this point

Eyes beginning to focus

Feeling a wee bit bagged.

Saving the Trails

Recently there has been some trail maintinence that has lot of people up in arms (including myself). Some good singletrack sections were bulldozed into wide fire roads. Apparently the NPS was going to shut down the entire trail because of all the erosion where this happened but a local mtb group asked if they fixed it up if they could keep the trail open. Nice work. Too bad the technical features all got taken out. Hopefully all the local groups and mountain bikers can get together one day and help maintenance trails together (rather than not allow those that don't belong to the group to not participate). Can't we all just get along?

Decided a trip to Fistful of Smoothness was in order

Before

After

This was a design I did after this happened. We have to work together to save it.

Birthday Ride

Happy Birthday Brandon!

Headed out for a little Birthday ride for Brandon. Hit up some fun trails: Loop of Confusion to Fistfull of Smoothness. Descended down Batten down the Twistys to the Deer Grounds. Suffered a tad on White Flag before dropping in on Rollin' Babyheads then headed for home. It was a great ride full of laughs and joking around.

Brandon hits the Deer Grounds

Almost washed out the front end trying to take this pic

A little grunt up White Flag

Watch out for Mothra!

Good Morning Cave of Pain

Bear and I decided it would be good to go out and suffer. Found the pain cave mighty quick.

Summer Days

There must be something in the air that makes people crazy around here. Perhaps the smoke from the fires? Not sure but whatever it is I sure hope it stops.

High School started this week so my early morning training bros are unavailable for early singletrack sessions (Been hitting the books quite hard myself trying to catch up with some design work that life put on hold). We've had some good rides over the summer and they all ended with food which is nice. For instance this lovely bit of sodium replenishment courtesy of peperoni, sausage, and salami below.

The other morning I was out with Brandon and Nick and we were climbing some singletrack. I felt a stabbing sensation near my right ankle. I stopped to check it out but couldn't figure out what it was. A bee decided to lean into me. Later in the day my ankle swelled up and I lost almost all ROM in my ankle (the pic below was post ride....it got worse). Fun stuff.

After some days of to recover from freak cankle-ism (hate cankles) the trails called. Everyday is a good day to ride.

Apparently every day is a good day to eat some tasty food as well.

Young Guns

Rode with the young ones today. Fun riding with the next wave of riders coming up.
